CITY OF ASHEBORO CURBSIDE RECYCLING PROGRAM

The City of Asheboro is implementing a new automated curbside recycle program, which will begin operating in your neighborhood soon. Pick-up areas will be implemented in phases starting Thursday, November 1, 2007.

You will be notified by mail when pick-up will begin in your area. This new program will change your garbage collection to one time per week with your garbage being collected on Monday only and recyclables being collected on Thursday. Please use the gray can* for recyclables only and refer to the Materials List below for what items may be placed in the gray can. Please place the gray can at the street in the same location you currently place your garbage can for collection. Please have your cans out before 7:30am on pick-up day for collection.

When a container is placed adjacent to the street or sidewalk for collection and has not been removed by the end of the day of collection, city personnel will leave a door hanger informing the occupant that they are in violation of city code and that they have 5 business days to remove the container.

If the violation is not corrected within the time period described by the initial notice of violation, a second door hanger will be left and a registered or certified letter will also be sent to the property owner, who will be determined by examination of county tax records, giving them 5 business days to remove the container from the street or sidewalk.

Upon expiration of the second notice of violation, with the container still unmoved, the city will collect the container and the city's sanitation department shall not provide service to this location.

Upon payment of a service fee of $60.00, the city will return the container to the site and resume collection.

After removal of the solid waste container, the recycle container shall not be utilized for solid waste, and if found being used as such, the city will collect the container without further notice. Upon payment of a service fee of $60.00, the city will return the container to the site and resume collection.
